About the Business
My career in the motor trade began in my early teens working at my local garage on Saturdays and school holidays. At 16, I attended college for 3 years studying motor vehicle engineering. At 19 I started work at the local BMW dealership where I later met Steve some 15 years ago. I remained there for 7 years, and then moved to a SAAB dealership. Although happy at SAAB an opportunity at RAC as a patrol came along and this offered me the new challenge and variety that I had missed working in dealerships.
My nine years at RAC taught me a lot, not just about cars, but also about customer service and the motor trade in general. Steve and I have remained friends over the years, and have now set up in business together. Our aim at Smart Motor Works is to provide quality workmanship, combined with the customer care we would expect ourselves. I entered the motor industry in 1989, serving my apprenticeship with Robinsons Mercedes Benz.
